Newell StudioNewell Studio, Inc. was formed by John Newell in 2004. The firm was established for the love of building. As an architect, I am not happy unless I am engaged in creating something with my hands or my mind. I appreciate the larger-scale idea of place-making, as well as, the enjoyment to be had from a finally crafted detail.
I graduated from the University of Utah in 2000 with a Masters of Architecture. I also hold an BS in Urban Planning (UofU '90) and worked as a city planner for 6 years.
People sometimes ask me what I like best about my job and I have to say I have learned over the years that I really enjoy helping people solve problems. There is a lot of satisfaction out of taking complex problems and creating something that results in a "we love it".

I have been very fortunate to be able to work on a wide variety of projects from designing candlesticks for a church to large scale 12 million dollar buildings. I have also been able to work with some great clients over the years.
